Housing Project Update

The construction volume is set to HIGH today! The house is moving right along without any troubles. Woo-hoo, praise God! For the past two days my home school children have become church school children so they can at least have a better chance to hear themselves think. The excitement of moving out of the basement far outweighs the agony from the drone of the saws, hammers, and whatever else they are using.

It seems like every day brings with it some exciting new feature. Today's surprise was having three guys from the construction crew meet me at the top of the stairs as they were coming out of our bedroom/basement. They have access through the garage and it's not a problem for me but, I have to admit, the first thought that came to my mind when I saw the 'unscheduled' men coming through my bedroom was, "Did I leave any underclothes laying around?!" *moment of panic* I'm pretty sure I thought ahead to this scenario and removed all signs of unmentionables. But then again, just in case I didn't, I'm not going back down to find out until the crew has left for the day. Better to face possible humiliation and embarrassment alone!

Lovin' The Nature

We're trying to get in as much time as possible outside--and away from the construction zone. It has been so beautiful outside. Unlike our last home, it's green here AND the wind isn't blowing 50 miles an hour! It's a great two for one. And I have really fallen in love with going out to the pond. It's so fun to sit out there in the middle of nature and hear no other noises but the occasional turkey and whatever else is hanging out in the trees. It took me awhile to figure out that the other noise I kept hearing was the nuts falling from the trees. Wish you could join me out there for a taste of nature at its best...

Fishing at Jack's Pond

We had a great time experiencing nature today. Our friend, Chad is visiting from Nebraska so we decided to take him to see 'the sights'. After eating lunch at our local cafe, we headed for Jack's pond. I didn't have my camera with me for some of the exciting moments like the acorn fight or the wild turkey that surprised every one of us on our nature hike, but Dirk took the guys out fishing afterwards so I made sure he took the camera with him then. He did a pretty good job at taking photos for me and didn't even drop the camera into the water this time! (Thanks, Honey. You're terrific.)

Progress on the Addition

Earlier, I said we'd be blogging about the house addition but then nothing happened for awhile so just in case you forgot, we now have progress!

This is going to be the floor that holds the house that Jack builds. Jack is our friend and very talented housebuilder. We have complete confidence that whatever he does is going to be great and we are so looking forward to moving out of the basement when he finishes.

This was our back door that we thought we would have attached to the house at least until the addition was framed in. Surprise! We get fresh air all day long now. :)

Loving The Green

This morning, Will and I took a quick trip to another town for a doctor's appointment. Which isn't the point of this post at all, but anyway as we were driving once again, the awesomeness of God reached out to me. I just love the green fields and trees. It makes me so thankful that God's ways are not our ways. Sure don't know what His plans are but I'm trusting that He's got it figured out. Thanks God for the beautiful day. Thanks Will for making it a fun trip.

Bring on the rain

Oh my, there were a lot of things I wasn't prepared for when I took on the role of public AND homeschool mom, but Friday nights continue to boggle and stretch this mother. Just in case you don't know me that well, here's some info. I like to be dry. One of the few things I didn't like about living in a Central American country was the fact that I was never dry. Walking around in a poncho and wet jeans just never got to be a favorite past time, and so on Friday night after we had non-stop rain ALL day long we sloshed to the football game to see my favorite player of all time slip around on the field. It was not comfortable. Would I do it again? Yep, in a heartbeat. Love is worth sticky ponchos and saggy jeans.

This is Matt and Kristy's house. Of course, they are going to fix it up a little but it's here waiting for them. :) It kind of looks better through the rain.

The best part for Will is that each and every Friday somewhere on some football field that we find ourselves at, the concession stand is always selling pickles. :)

Another Friday Night at the Football Field

Now that we have purchased the appropriate teamwear, we consider ourselves prepared for the football game. Thankfully, it was a home game so we didn't have to drive anywhere through the light rain that fell up to the start of the game.


Cole saw a lot more playing time tonight and had some really strong tackles.

Friends!

What a gift friendship is! We were so blessed to have family and friends visit us over the weekend! I knew I was 'homesick' (whatever that means) but getting to see our friends and family over the weekend felt like receiving a cold drink of water after going without for far too long! We had such a great time laughing, talking, and hanging out! Will and Austyn rode the hills of town several times over! It was so cool to see them getting right back into their friendship and having fun times. We are always looking forward to the next time God brings us together but also have much to be thankful to God for. Thanks for coming Sylvia and DuPeire's! Until next time...

Go Tigers!

We went to our first 'official' football game as Tiger fans and I have to say it's probably a good thing I'm just starting out at it. We have had great experiences with baseball, basketball and soccer in the past, so it's not a big surprise that my heart is out there on the field once again with a child. While my heart may have been 'out there', the rest of me sat on those really comfy bleachers they have at all football fields and watched as my son fulfilled a dream he thought would never be. He did get to go in for some plays and the coaches are helping him greatly to learn the game. The game ended with a 64-46 win and we had some really wonderful people to share the game with!
