154 Apple Pies

Today was Apple Pie Day at church. It was amazing to watch and take part in the whole process of getting that many pies done at one time. My hands remained caked in apples and sugar mixture most of the day and for someone who hates their hands getting messy, it turned out to be more fun than I expected. Anyone want a piece of pie? Come on over, we'll have one waiting for you!

Bridges

We were out driving the other night and came to this bridge. It was a really cool spot out in the middle of nowhere but we had a great family time and Ally found time to be a little photogenic while Will was out discovering animal bones.

Weekend Update

YAY for weekends! Now, if there were just a way to make them last longer! Our weekend started out in the usual way, a football game. It was a really great game that went into a double overtime. Unfortunately, we lost, but it was still a good game in spite of all the would have's and should have's.(Kind of like the Husker game.) :(Construction on the house continues and for obvious reasons, we are finding things to do away from home.
So, while Mom went shopping with a friend, Dad took the crew fishing at our favorite spot. Cole was needing some 'down time'. Will thinks that the spot is his second home. And Ally continues to amaze me as she is hanging out with friends at the football game and being a girly-girl one minute and the next, she is covered in mud and fish guts. So, anyone want to come over? We're having fish for supper.

As for other news, Will is now taking an online college credit class in Wildlife--and loving it. Ally is getting ready to start basketball and continuing with her Bible Quiz crew. Cole is winding down in football season and already contemplating basketball.

'Tis The Season

Fall has always meant one thing at our house. Football. At different times, fall has indicated other things in our lives like harvest, end of hurricane season, pre-holiday crunch time, etc. However, no matter where we have lived or what situation we have been in, fall has always meant football. Even tho so many things are changing right now, it's good to take comfort in one or two things that remain the same.
Dirk was researching some football information on the internet the other day and came across this photo. It was taken at Cole's first football game by someone a lot closer to the field than I was.

Winds of Change

It's been an adjustment getting used to one of my children no longer at home each day. After so many years of having all of them together most of the time, these days are filled with changes. When school finished for the day, we headed out for an afternoon of fishing. Cole was still at football practice so it was a little different but that's ok. Change is good. Or so they tell me.
Yep, there's winds of change all around.

Bible Quizzing

This weekend was our first Bible Quiz Meet. Ally recently joined a local group of girls who are holding on to the desire to keep God's Word in their lives at a tough age. Please keep them in your prayers so they continue to keep God first! The girls are really blessed with two awesome coaches who love the Lord and them.

Ally did well in memorizing her questions so the team leaders gave her almost double the amount to memorize for next month! The challenge is on now but the important thing is that she is learning God's Word for herself!

Officially Overwhelmed

With so many things happening right now I thought I was officially overwhelmed when I walked in to see my kitchen today. I was so sure until this verse reminded me that I'm not. :)

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21

P.S. I don't think the construction or the people are evil but the dust, lack of kitchen, the dust, the dust, and the dust is not fun. I can't wait for the construction to be done!

Apple Picking

What a great bounty! Some friends offered us apples so the guys grabbed a tub--surely a 'tub' was enough, right?!--and went apple picking. Needless to say, they came home with more than a few apples and I'm trying to figure out how to make apple sauce without a kitchen. As long as we have Will and a juicer around it might not be an issue. :)

My Mom

We had a great visit with my mom and stepdad! They were able to come for a much too short visit but we had a great time anyway.

Will has live traps set out by a local pond. He checked them and found a very friendly raccoon who didn't really want to leave his new found home. After some enticement, he was finally on his way.

Grandma and Grandpa loved seeing our little peace place and Will enjoyed showing it to them.

The Deck Is On!

The housing addition continues! Monday they are set to tear down the wall!
